Two signatures by the Author. Author's Presentation copy "For Pamela and Michael Melone, with all good wishes and with affection, from Samuel C. Chew Claremont, Easter 1951", typed/laid-in letter (postmarked) w/author's signature, also a tipped-in letter at rear of book stating that this copy is one of the few remaining "author's copies". Illustrated, red topstain, red cloth coverd boards w/gilt spine title, gilt pictorial (crescent w/flower) front board, [xviii] 583 pp, hint of light rubbing to edges, corners lightly bumped, dj shows some fading mainly to spine area, very light wear to edges.
